This bridge, erected in 1803, was the first to be built of iron in France. Reserved exclusively for pedestrians, it is one of the most pleasant in the city, with benches offering superb views in both directions along the river, taking in the Pont-Neuf and the buildings on the Île de la Cité, including Notre-Dame, downstream, and the Louvre and Pont du Carrousel upstream. The bridge is popular with young musicians and artists.
