At no. 29, hôtel Le-Peletier-de-Saint-Fargeau, built by Pierre Bullet in 1690, belonged to the famous French National Convention that sentenced Louis XVI to death. His beautifully restored Hotel de Flesselles is at no. 52. And, Sadi Carnot (1796-1832), who you must not confuse with his nephew, the French president assassinated in 1894, founded thermodynamics on the site where the Léopold-Achille gardens now stand.
