This street is the main thoroughfare in the city’s Jewish quarter (the Marais is referred to by a specific expression in Yiddish, namely the Pletzl or “square”). With the exception of Saturdays, the Sabbath, large crowds flock to the rue des Rosiers to buy religious items, kosher foods, oriental specialities and pastries. Look out for the signs in Hebrew that line the street.
