Under Louis XV, the mint was transferred here including the workshops where the coins were struck (nowadays at Pessac, near Bordeaux). The workshops, beautifully laid out and with a great simplicity of lines are the work of Antoine (1768-1775). The musée de la Monnaie or Mint Museum retraces the history of French minting and the development of the art of medal-striking.
