Nestled in the Vallée de l'Authie, the Abbaye de Valloires stands in a site of outstanding beauty, in accordance with Cistercian tradition. You can admire the oak wood panelling in the sacristy, in the Louis XVI rocaille style, and the Baroque church (gallery, superb grating in the chancel). The grounds are a pleasant place for a stroll: French-style gardens, landscaped gardens, the Garden of the Five Senses and the Evolution Garden honouring the botanist Lamarck (1744-1829), who was the first to expound a theory of the evolution of living beings – the garden features both archaic and highly developed plants.
