Situated in the centre of a vast gulf, Porto-Vecchio is a thriving seaside town and the main attraction on the eastern coast after Bastia.
This once-fortified town stands looking over the sea at an altitude of 70 metres. Its site can best be viewed from the sea or the road leading to the headland of Chiappa. The gulf also has some great beaches... and you can discover the strange monuments of the Torrean civilisation, the Castellu d'Araghju or the site of Ceccia [Ceccia#] .
