Fontaine-de-Vaucluse : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum

In winter and spring when the level of the water reaches the fig trees clinging to the rocky walls and the deep-emerald River Sorgue flows over the slope in a tumultuous, leaping mass, the rocks are splashed with foam and haze: this sight alone amply justifies a visit to the village where François Pétrarque tried to forget the beautiful Laure de Noves. People from the Avignon area unhesitatingly flock to the cafés and restaurants on the river bank landing stages.
