This museum holds the richest collection of art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas outside of Paris. The well curated collection includes masks, sculptures, reliquaries and daily objects, principally from West Africa, Wayana masks (Brazil), shrunken human heads (tsantsas of the Jivaro Indians, Ecuador), and sculpted and engraved human skulls, illustrating the ancient civilisations of Oceania and Amazonia, popular art from Mexico etc.
