Empéri refers to the Germanic Roman Empire, and several sovereigns stayed in this residence. Its construction took from the 10C to the 13C and a Renaissance gallery was added in the 16C. St Catherine Chapel, the salle d’honneur and also around thirty rooms housing the museum, whose collections describe the history of Louis XIV’s French army up to 1918: uniforms, tack, flags… more than 10 000 military exhibits for the enjoyment of those interested in the prestige of uniforms.
