Speloncato Travel guide
Speloncato : Michelin's recommendations
Perched at an altitude of 650m on a spur detached from Mt Tolo, this village is said to be named after a natural tunnel that lies 2km away (from the Corsican word spelunca, meaning "cave"). A delightful maze of little streets and arched passageways awaits you. From Place de la Libération, look down the road adjacent to the church on the right to see the 8m-long natural opening of the Pietra Tafonata, through which rays of sunlight can be seen to filter. Every year on 8 April and the 8 September a strange eclipse phenomenon occurs.
