The highest point of the eastern chain, this wooded mountain in the centre of the Castagniccia region overlooks the whole of eastern Corsica. Leaving from the Col du Prato, follow the forest track until it meets the track coming from Campodonico on the right. This route leads you to the summit of Monte San Petrone via the southern face. From there you can contemplate the immense panoramic view over the eastern plain, the Tuscan archipelago, Cap Corse, the Nebbio, the Balagne and the central mountain range from Mt Cinto to Mt Incudine.
