The royal marae of Taputapuatea is the most prestigious in all of Polynesia. The site was previously accessible by pirogue via the Ava Mo'a pass on the occasion of official, political or religious ceremonies. Associated with Oro, the god of war, the site is a superb expression of the past culture of the Polynesian people.
