Wilhelmina was responsible for the building of the margraves' Opera House from 1745 to 1748. The austere façade is hemmed in by 18C burghers' houses. The interior, with the stage and apron, forms an area of astonishing depth (72m). The stalls area used not to have any seats, being set aside for dancing. The three galleries are subdivided into boxes, the finest of which is the Prince's Box bearing the Margrave coat of arms. The decoration by brilliant artists from Bologna is of an exuberant richness.
