Wishing to make of Bayreuth another Potsdam, Wilhelmina had the New Castle built in 1753-1754, by converting and linking several other buildings. The apartments are decorated in the light, flowery Rococo style she loved. She got particularly involved with the decor of the Mirror Room, the Japanese Room and the old Music Room. On the ground floor is a Museum of Bayreuth porcelain.
