The Old Museum, built by Schinkel from 1824 to 1830, was the first public museum in Berlin. The 87m-long colonnade of the main façade, supported by 18 Ionic columns, is a masterpiece of neo-Classical art. The museum houses collections of archaeological antiquities, most of which come from the Greek civilisation. Note the dome adorned with frescoes inside the building.
