This large group of courtyards (Höfe) in the Scheunenviertel district was built in 1906. The eight courtyards, all very different in style, are home to apartments, offices, shops, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema. Designed in the Jugenstil style by August Endell, the first courtyard has a magnificent façade of colourful varnished bricks. Also worthy of note is the elegant staircase on the left. The courtyards were restored between 1994 and 1996 and are now very popular with visitors.
