A talented Expressionist artist from Berlin, Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) demonstrates a sensitive commitment to social issues through her paintings, engravings and sculptures. Her strong, sombre works express her sorrow at the misery of society’s disadvantaged classes. This museum houses the collection of the art dealer Hans Pels-Leusden, whose gallery is situated next door at n° 25 in the magnificent eclectic Grisebach villa.
