Dating back to 1867 (when it was housed in the Martin-Gropius-Bau), the Kunstgewerbemuseum is the oldest museum of decorative arts in Germany. After the war, its collections were divided between the east (Köpenick Palace) and the west. Since 1985, this magnificent collection of goldsmith's work, ceramics and furniture has been exhibited at the Kulturforum. Particularly worthy of note are the Guelph treasure, the exotic furniture by Carlo Bugatti and the Rococo Cabinet of Mirrors from Merseburg Palace.
