The collection is divided up into three sections: the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and the silk route – and includes India, of course, but also Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tibet, Burma and Vietnam. The high point of the museum comes with the Turfan Collection (treasures from Chinese Turkestan) with its wall paintings, statues, textiles and documents, as well as the place of worship known as the "Cave with the Ring-Bearing Doves".
