Sankt-Hedwigs-Kathedrale
Sankt-Hedwigs-Kathedrale : Michelin's recommendations
Built between 1747 and 1773 by Johann Boumann, this church was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Frederick II dedicated the church to the Catholic Saint Edwige, the patron saint of recently conquered Silesia. The cathedral is renowned for its large dome and pediment carved with biblical scenes. A chapel in the lower church houses the treasure of the archbishopric of Berlin and the tomb of Bernhard Lichtenberg, the cathedral priest who died when transported to Dachau in 1943.
