The golden cupola of the New Synagogue is the most visible symbol of Scheunenviertel’s renaissance. Between Oranienburger Straße and the Hackescher Markt, trendy cafés and restaurants, restored courtyards and backyards, fashion boutiques and art galleries create a constant buzz. This is the centre of “new Berlin”, cutting across a large part of the former Jewish quarter.
