The Dukes of Bavaria made Burghausen into the largest castle in Germany. To reach the outer defensive wall, go under the Wöhrseeturm (good view of the fortifications). St George's gate leads to the innermost ring of battlements, protecting a small narrow courtyard. Admire the gallery of paintings (Bavarian school) and the Municipal Museum retracing the history of the town. Enjoy the splendid panoramic view of the town from the observation platform.
