Donaueschingen : Michelin's recommendations
This small town in the middle of the Baar, a fertile basin between the Black Forest and the Swabian Jura, stands at the confluence of two rivers which become the Danube. Its annual Festival of Contemporary Music, founded in 1921, soon rose to fame thanks to the patronage of men such as Richard Strauss, Schönberg and Webern. It was responsible for bringing musicians of the likes of Boulez, Stockhausen and Xénakis to the notice of the general public.
