Erlangen : Michelin's recommendations

Large numbers of French Huguenots sought refuge in this residential Baroque town. The Reform Church lies at the centre of the Huguenot quarter. In the middle of the park behind the castle can be found the curious Huguenot fountain erected by the French in 1706 in honour of their protector, the Margrave of Bayreuth. Erlangen is also a university town, and the birthplace of physicist Georg Ohm, who discovered the laws of resistance in electrical circuits.
