The election of the emperors (from 1356), followed by their coronation (from 1562) took place in this church, which earned it the name of cathedral. It was built between the 13 and 15C on the site of a Carolingian construction. The west tower was only completed in 1877. Inside, see in particular the choir stalls (1350), the mural paintings (1427), the altar of Mary's sleep (1434) and the «Descent of the Cross» by Van Dyck (1627).
