Reconstructed identically after 1945, Goethe's paternal house reflects the taste for beautiful things and the love for Italy which the father conveyed to his son. An exhibition retraces the life of the Goethe family in Frankfurt in the 18C. Here too are documents relating to the poet's first works. The adjoining museum has a gallery of paintings dating from the epoch of Goethe. There are, notably, paintings by Füssli and Friedrich.
