South of the church can be seen various buildings originally raised to the glory of town and Church, such as the Archbishop's Palace with its fine wrought-iron balcony, and the old Kaufhaus. This Gothic building in red roughcast, flanked by watchtowers with pointed roofs and decorated with glazed tiles, gives a highly picturesque medieval note to the square. It contains the town's main reception hall. The square has another splendid feature in the Wentzingerhaus, which houses the history museum.
