Freudenstadt Travel guide
Freudenstadt : Michelin's recommendations
The city was built during the 17C at the crossroads of several major routes. It was burnt down in 1945, but later rebuilt on a grid plan around the huge rectangular Marktplatz with its arcaded houses. Also worth seeing is the church (17C) which has a curious layout: its two naves, set at a right-angle, form one of the corners of the Marktplatz. The lectern, supported by the Four Evangelists (12C), came from Alpirsbach.
