Fulda : Michelin's recommendations
The striking Baroque core of Fulda, which has a long religious past, can be seen in its palace, belfries, ramps, doors and monumental balustrades. St Boniface, the Apostle of Germany, had a monastery built here from 744. He was massacred by the Frisians ten years later and buried in the monastery. The abbey subsequently became a centre of religious worship, art and scholarship.
