Furtwangen im Schwarzwald : Michelin's recommendations

The 1 484m-high lookout tower of Brend commands a superb view southwards. The Breg, which rises nearby, is held to be one of the source's of the Danube. The latter, however, actually rises some 50km away on the French border at an altitude of 1 078m and flows for 2 900km before reaching the mouth of the Black Sea. Hexenloch, a nearby town known locally as the Witch's Hole, is a steeply wooded gorge abounding in waterfalls.
