Most of the half-timbered houses are found in the eastern part of the old quarter. Near the Rathaus stands the old Junkernschänke tavern, a half-timbered Renaissance house. Its former master and mistress can be seen on the corner post.

The museum is mainly devoted to religious art from the region, but also contains a section on local history describing how the town and university grew up.
