Güstrow : Michelin's recommendations

By 1228, Güstrow owned all the franchises it was possible for a town to have. As the seat of the Dukes of Mecklemburg-Güstrow, it reached a peak of prosperity between 1556-1695 that it maintained for the next few centuries, as shown by the burghers' houses, and the magnificent architecture found in the cathedral and market squares and in the surrounding streets. The town hall in the market square is an architectural curiosity, where a Classical façade was added to four gabled houses in 1797.
