Halberstadt : Michelin's recommendations

In the Middle Ages, the former Hanseatic city was a major economic centre whose principal activity was the cloth and linen trade. A large part of the town centre was destroyed by bombing just before the end of the war. While historical monuments were restored, many buildings were left just as they were. Socialist urban planning left a strong mark on the town, still evident today.
