This is the only building left from the medieval quarter that it overlooked in times gone by. It was destroyed during the Second World War, and reconstructed incorporating the west section of the Romanesque church that originally stood there. Note the late 14C façade with its big Gothic windows. The bell tower, 114m high, is the highest in Lower Saxony, and is a prominent element in the general silhouette of the town.
