This castle in the Dutch Renaissance style, built between 1577 and 1582 by Duke Adolf of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf as a summer residence, later became a home for widowed Duchesses. After 1752, it was remodelled in the Baroque style. It has a pretty park, at its best in spring when the crocuses are in bloom.
