Ludwig II had this palace built between 1874 and 1879 in one of the wild Alpine valleys used for hunting by the kings of Bavaria. With its second Italian Renaissance and Baroque styles, the palace has a lavish and harmonious feel. The luxurious decor almost hides some of the most remarkable exhibits, such as the Gobelin tapestries and the Bohemian crystal chandeliers. Don’t miss the first-floor rooms, especially the Audience Chamber, the Bedchamber and the glass cabinet with 94 vases.
