Lüneburg Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Salt has long brought wealth to the town of Lüneburg, which is built on a salt deposit that was mined from the 10C until 1980. Spared by the Second World War, Lüneburg is now a university town with traditional architecture characterised by scrolled and stepped gables, “Tausteine” (bricks laid to give a twisted-cable effect) and cornices with rounded or tierce-point arcades. The town is also a gateway for the extensive wild landscapes of Lüneburg heath.
