This gallery, built from 1841 to 1844 by Friedrich von Gärtner, is based on the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. Behind the building is Viscardigasse, an alleyway with a line of gold on the ground, in tribute to the resistance of those who took this route to avoid having to perform the obligatory salute in front of Hitler's memorial to the "heroes" of the failed Beer Hall Putsch of 1923.
