Oberkirch : Michelin's recommendations

This magnificent town, the possession of the bishops of Strasbourg for centuries, is surrounded by orchards, vineyards and forests. It has retained some attractive half-timbered houses, the oldest of which date from the 17C, and is overlooked by the ruins of the Schauenburg, a fortified castle built in the 11C. The town holds two records: one for the largest strawberry market in Germany and the other for the number of home distillers. Local specialities include cherry, plum and raspberry brandy.
