Passau : Michelin's recommendations
A town on the Austrian border, Passau enjoys a pleasant location at the confluence of the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. Thanks to the Danube, trade with Bohemia was hugely important for the town, which was a powerful bishopric. The old town is graced with Baroque churches and patrician houses. The opening of a university in 1978 strengthened Passau’s cultural influence. Every summer, the European Weeks festival attracts numerous music-and theatre-lovers to the town.
