Rheinsberg
: Michelin's recommendations
Rheinsberg is associated with the author Kurt Tucholsky (1890-1935), but its castle is linked to the memory of Frederick the Great. Here he developed the idea that a prince should be «the first servant of his State.» He corresponded with Voltaire until the philosopher's death in 1778. The architect Knobelsdorff, the painter Antoine Pesne and the sculptor Friedrich Christian Glume created a style at Rheinsberg that was to reach its zenith in the palaces of Charlottenburg and Sans-Souci.
