The museum takes its name from a Dominican monastery founded here in 1266. It houses various objects dating from the Roman Empire, discovered during archeological digs in the region. These include the beautiful Orpheus Mosaic, consisting of some 570 000 pieces. There is also a fine collection of Swabian sculptures (14C, 15 C and 16C).
