This village lost in the heart of sprawling vineyards was formerly the site of the wealthy monastery of Offoniscella, destroyed in the 19C. Excavation work has revealed the oldest mosaic in Germany, which dates from the 11C, in the shape of a medallion of 3m in diameter.
