Stralsund : Michelin's recommendations
From its early beginnings, Stralsund has developed as a centre of maritime navigation and long-distance trade. A much coveted city, Stralsund suffered the assaults of its neighbours who vied with each other to conquer this admirably located port. Protected by its series of ramparts, the town resisted the attacks of Wallenstein's troops during the Thirty Years War. Its Gothic brick buildings, inspired by those of Lübeck, are among the best-known in northern Germany.
