Occupying four adjacent houses, including the 16C-17C Kiechelhaus, this museum displays art by the Ulm masters (Madonna of Bihlafingen by Hans Multscher) and the early-13C blue and gold painting of Mary in mourning, by a master from Upper Swabia. Several rooms are devoted to the guilds, with paintings by 16C-18C masters. In the archaeology section, the small lion-man statue is one of the oldest known representations of a man. Lastly, the Kurt Fried collection exhibits 20C art (Klee, Kandinsky, Kirchner, Rothko).
