Worms cathedral is a Romanesque building with two apses quartered in each case by two round towers. The west chancel, with its double tier of Rhenish dwarf galleries, is one of the finest Romanesque creations in Germany. Inside, there is a very old sculpture of Daniel in the Lions' Den and a high altar by Balthazar Neumann. Note the transept crossing and Rhenish cupola, the Gothic sculptures in the north aisle and the tombs of relatives of Emperor Konrad II in the crypt.
