The complex structure of the oval arching is a testament to the architectural audacity and originality of Balthazar Neumann. The pink-veined marble columns, the white and gold of false marble and the warm tints of the frescoes by court painter Rufolf Byss - all combine to form a colourful composition that is rich in contrasts. Two more Tiepolo compositions hang over the side altars: the Assumption and the Fall of the Angels.
