Augustusburg Castle (in Brühl) Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

This Rococo castle (1725-1768) with its garden in the French manner was built by Schlaun and Cuvilliès for Archbishop and Elector of Cologne Clemens August. Inside, besides the staircase by Balthasar Neumann embellished with caryatids and telamons, of particular interest is the Large New Suite, especially the audience chamber . Also noteworthy are the Summer suite and the Yellow suite, Clemens August's private residence in the Regency style.
