This church is a perfect example of the architectural development from the late Romanesque towards the Early Gothic. In the west chancel, the «Master of Naumburg,» who created the famous benefactors' statues placed around the chancel, undoubtedly took medieval German sculpture to the height of its glory. The rood screen bears a series of high reliefs depicting scenes from the Passion.
