In the town centre stands the old abbey church, the Kornelimünster. It has five naves dating from the 14C and 16C, and the Gothic interior has been decorated in Baroque style. Admire the high altar by Couven, with Rococo modifications. The valuable relics housed in the church attract many pilgrims in September. A fine view of the city and abbey can be enjoyed from the Romanesque-Gothic church of St Stephen's, which stands on a hill.
